Meet Anshul, our Head of Special Projects, Tide India
We have chosen India 🇮🇳 as our first step to expand internationally! We’re excited to start supporting one of the largest small business ecosystems in the world and the country’s unparalleled entrepreneurial spirit 📈. We are building a fantastic team here and wanted to introduce you to them! Here is Anshul Khera, Head of Special Projects, Tide India. 🤝
👋 Hi Anshul, great to chat with you today! Please introduce yourself in a sentence.
Hi! I am Anshul! I head the ‘Special Projects’ here in India. I am part of the core team responsible for the India Launch.
Tell us about what you were doing before Tide? And, how did Tide happen?
I have been a start-up guy throughout the 12 years of my professional experience. I have extensive experience and expertise in launching new products across multiple industries – Ed-tech, Travel-tech, Health-tech, etc. I have been operating in the Fintech industry for the last 4+ years.
Just before I joined Tide, I was leading the projects team in a fintech company. Being in the payments industry, we were working on creating the new-age financial services suite and Tide came as a natural succession. We understood that the small business ecosystem in India could benefit immensely from what Tide has to offer. Being familiar with the industry in India, we have enough confidence that will be able to empower the small business owners in India.
That’s wonderful to know! 🙂 Now that you have been at Tide for more than a year, how has your team evolved?
I am excited to say that the Team is growing fast. With the additional responsibility of leading the marketing team in India, we have created both online (Digital Marketing) and offline (Partnerships) teams. The partnerships team is being structured across India, to cater to the regional and cultural diversity.
Talking about team structuring, we are looking for talented folks in India🔎👀. In my own team – we are looking for a Senior SEO Manager, a Copywriter and a Lead Graphic Designer. If you are in search of an exciting new role (based in Delhi-NCR and Hyderabad or even remotely in India), ➡️ you can find all the details here.
Fantastic! So, tell us, what’s the favourite part of your role?
I love to wear multiple hats; which is exactly what I am doing at Tide for a successful India launch😎. What I love the most is learning each day, doing the fire-fighting wherever required, and owning the projects end-to-end. ⚡️⚡️
What are your thoughts about Tide’s Working Outside the Office (WOO) policy?
WOO policy is in line with what Tide offers to its members, save time on travelling, focus on your work and be completely digital. In addition to this, as mentioned earlier as well, the partnerships team was already being built across locations in India, the WOO policy gives them enough comfort to work from wherever it is convenient.
What are you most excited about this year at Tide? 🤩
Super-excited for our prospects in India 😊 . The team has been preparing well 💪. We have been doing lots of ’test and learn’ exercises for performance marketing to reach out to small business owners across the country. The partners are also excited to start the engagement seeing the potential of Tide’s offerings for the Indian SME market.⚡️
What advice would you give someone looking for a role in Fintech? 🗣
India has the highest Fintech adoption rate globally and is amongst the fastest growing Fintech markets in the world. Of the 2,100+ Fintechs existing in India today, over 67% have been set up in the last 5 years. The Indian Fintech market is currently valued at $31 Billion and is expected to grow to $84 Billion by 2025.
All these numbers indicate, this is the apt time for being in the Fintech space. I think apart from knowing what is happening in the industry, one should focus on their core skill set. The basics are the same in all industries. One should always be open to new ideas and strategies for execution. As there is still a lot to be defined in this industry, one can bring their previous experiences but should always question and be ready to refine the existing processes. 👍
When you’re not at Tide, what’s your favourite thing to do?
When not at Tide, I am reliving my childhood with my 5-year-old son, playing with him, reading stories to him. I am into sports🏟. I love playing badminton 🏸 and swimming 🏊♂️. I am a die-hard cricket fan 🏏. To top all this off, I like watching TV series 📺.
If you could only have three apps on your smartphone 📲, which would you pick?
One would definitely be Google – One stop solution to all needs – News, weather, and all my son’s questions.
Next would be, Whatsapp – Being in touch with all – both professionally and personally
The third app would be any of the payment apps as I rarely carry “wallet” with me.
